Informative Programme on Indian Civil Services
Organised by: Commission for Education, St. Patrick Church, Siddakatte
Date: 18 October 2026
The Commission for Education of St. Patrick Church, Siddakatte, organised an informative programme on Indian Civil Services in the presence of Parish Priest Fr. Elias D’Souza, Parish Council Vice President Sunil Sequeira, Secretary Praveen Crasta, Commission Coordinator Selma Fernandes, faith formation commission convenor Diana D’Costa, and Vocation and Formation Commission Convenor Lydia Miranda.
The resource person, Mrs. Mural Henrita Cutinha, explained various civil service examinations, their eligibility criteria, preparation methods, and career opportunities. She highlighted the benefits of civil services and encouraged Christian students to appear for these examinations and contribute to society.
A current affairs quiz was also conducted, with many students participating actively and enthusiastically. The programme was informative and inspiring, motivating students to explore civil services as a career and understand their role in serving the nation.

On January 4, 2026, during the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the Diocese of Mangalore officially inaugurated 2026 as the “Year of Children”. Unveiled by Bishop Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha during the Diocesan Eucharistic Procession, the initiative is centred on the theme: “Amchim bhurgimballam, Devachya Razachim follam” — “Our children are the fruits of God’s Kingdom”
This year serves as a pastoral call to prioritize the holistic development of children under eighteen, focusing on their spiritual, human, and academic growth.
